From: Shasta McLaughlin
Are you having trouble selling booths at your art and craft shows?
Are the costs of printing and postage affecting profits?
Looking for new vendors for your art fair? Need a wider variety of exhibitors
at your festival?
Want to increase the quality of your farmers' market?
I know how hard it is to -- find quality vendors for your shows. For your show to be a success you need a variety of artists and crafters that do quality work.
You need to find more than jewelry to fill your booths.
So...you advertise in the newspaper but don't know if your ad is noticed by anyone, let alone artists and crafters.
Hi, my name is Shasta McLaughlin and I have always been an artist and crafter. Drawing on the walls, crocheting and knitting, attending art classes, as well as shows with my mom and eventually putting on my own craft shows.
A friend asked me to put on a Craft Show to earn some extra money.
We put on the Christmas Extravaganza in 2005. I didn't know where to find vendors for that first show. We made posters, took out ads, and talked to everyone.
We listed our show with every Chamber of Commerce and free site that would allow us. Most would only include our ad the month of the event. We weren't going to find many vendors that way.
Most places allow advertising only for non-profits and don't include enough information for exhibitors.
Hundreds of hours later when all was said and done...
We had 26 vendors for our craft show in Belgrade, Montana.
That was when...
A vendor at our show told me about a newsletter -- for artists, crafters, antique dealers, trade show and farmers' market vendors.
Exhibitors who are available on the dates of my show, who are willing to pay my price and are actually interested in my show can contact me.
They have the information about my show in writing eliminating confusion for them. They don't miss application deadlines or get lost trying to find the shows.
Now I can reach hundreds of artists, crafters, antique dealers, trade show vendors, and farmers' market producers each month.
Show listings in the newsletter reach the targeted audience --Vendors for your fair, festival, bazaar, or art or craft show.
I thought how neat it was and immediately subscribed as well as listing my future craft shows. When the owner of the newsletter decided to do other things, I felt it was a perfect use of all I had learned. With her help I received the opportunity to offer it to you.
The testimonials below are actual statements made by real people who were customers of The Extravaganza Craft News at the time the statements were made. They may or may not be customers of the newsletter at this time. Their results may not be typical of the average customer.
I thought I'd catch you up on our 2007 Fair held Sat., Feb 10th. It went very well. I did pass out your newsletter to everyone. I hope it gets you more subscribers.
I also wanted you to know that I had a few new vendors come my way because of you. I look forward to getting you next year's info as I get dates nailed down.
Thanks a bunch.
...I really enjoy your listings and such. But one thing I'm going to make a point to do and that is to pass your name around at all the shows I do so they advertise in your newsletter.
...That way they can see what they are missing...
It would be very handy to all of us venders to have an inkling early on of when the shows will be for our scheduling. I hate to sign up for one just to find out there is a better one the same date later on. Maybe the shows would send in early so we can plan ahead better...
Thanks for the work you do and the suggestions and hints you publish. I have been keeping all of the copies in case I want to go back for something I read before.
Onward through the sawdust...

|"I am a shopper of the craft shows and I receive Extravaganza Craft News to find where the shows are. If I am traveling, I always check to see if there is a show in the city I'm going to and then I plan my shopping around the show. It is a great resource for us, the shoppers, and I can't imagine a crafter NOT taking the newsletter. It just makes good business sense as the hard work is done for you, the shows are listing making your contact much easier and cheaper. Shasta has done the leg work for you, finding the who, what and where. And having it available online....another great idea. Keep up the good work Shasta and thank you for sharing the information with all of us."

Thank you for the wonderful service that you perform by publishing Extravaganza Crafts. It is extremely helpful to both show promoters and vendors. I hand out your newsletters and business cards every year to the vendors who do not know about you already, and they are always happy to receive it and truly appreciate it.
We run a festival day and craft fair in our small town in Montana. The event raises money for community projects and scholarships, and also brings the whole town together. By advertising in Extravaganza Crafts, we are able to attract many wonderful vendors from both nearby and far-away places who contribute greatly to the success of the event.
Keep up the good work - it is sincerely appreciated.
|Hi Shasta - not sure what all I will be doing but if I organize another show, you'll be first on my list to list with. Thanks for your help oer the years!
The Extravaganza Craft News
The Extravaganza Craft News was created in July of 2006.
It is a monthly newsletter that goes directly to artists, crafters, antique dealers, trade show vendors, and small farmers.
Show listings are 9 lines of quality information for shows in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota.
It contains hints, tips, and tricks to make the vendors at your shows more successful.
Save hundreds of dollars maintaining and mailing to your exhibitor list.
Focusing on vendors interested in your show saves you time and money.
Vendors spend approximately 20-30% of their time looking for shows (time that could be better spent perfecting their craft, marketing it or selling it at your show). Some say as much as 50% of their time is spent looking for quality shows.
Crafters that spend less time looking for shows spend more time creating unique, high quality crafts. Have more time to market and advertise their product properly and feel more successful. Giving your show a reputation of success.
Vendors at your events will be better prepared, their booths will look more professional.
Your booth sales will grow because exhibitors will make more sales, be more likely to return and tell others about your terrific show.
Vendors and Exhibitors are looking for your holiday and Christmas Festivals now.
